I appreciate the help in staying up with learning technologies. My goal is to expand my technology skills, so while I am still awkward with much of this, it is helpful. I will and have begun to use RSS feeds, delicious and am comfortable with wikis. Likely won't blog or tweeter. I have updated my facebook.
I am really glad to have had a good, cheap, way to start on Web 2 technologies. Doing it when I am able was really helpful. Lets keep going!

Method 11
Pod casting... I'm more interested in visual media than audio. I am going to get the NPR app for my iPhone so that I can check in from time to time when away from a radio. I listened to a couple of pods from NTRLS and found them interesting. I am more likely to do more academic research if I am interested in a topic, but the pod casts might reach some audiences.
Method 10
It seems like you have to find people who want to be heard, want to participate. When a group have a tight communal interest, wiki works well, such as committees reporting on individual assignments--keeps people involved. I'm more of a lurker, but there are times the wikis are useful.

Method 9
While I've been text messaging for a while, its different from chats. We've asked our IT people for Meebo, but they are worrying about something and keep telling us, later, later...
HSU uses VoIP and it has significantly reduced our LD phone charges. The only trouble with it is that it requires support from an uninterruptible power supply, otherwise when you lose electricity, you lose phone service.

Method 8
I went ahead and set up a FB page. I think what most people forget is that if you post to these pages there is no privacy. I will try this with friends and family and see if I find it helpful in staying up with "my people". Some of my library staff set up a library FB page, but I am sorry to say, no one wanted to be our friend. I also wonder about students who admit to unethical and occasionally illegal acts and think that no one will notice.
I do see great possibility if you can build a friends group and publicize events or library services.

Method 7
I really do like the Delicious site. While I don't personally care about sharing reading lists, its makes sense for the library to set up topics with websites of interest on Delicious. Not having favorite sites tied to one computer, allows for the libraraian liaisons to let up helpful sites or for librarians to set up site lists for patrons to check anytime anywhere.
